Socks arrived at the sanctuary in September 2018 with his brother Raury, mother Moon, and three other goats, Sky, Star and Ragu. Star and Moon were both used as dairy goats so their babies had been taken away from them at only a couple of days old. At LAILO, months later, they were all reunited. This entire goat herd was nearly euthanized because one of them tested positive for goat virus called CAE. Though CAE can cause arthritis, pneumonia, chronic mastitis and weight loss, many goats can live long and happy lives with the virus. Socks has some health issues related to CAE but he is managing well at the moment. He is a real sweetheart and loves going for walks and getting scratches.
